Washing machine temperature sensor fault

The washing machine has detected a problem with the water heating temperature sensor and although the program will complete the machine will not heat the water.

  • Check wiring to temperature sensor or thermistor
  • Check thermistor or temperature sensor
  • Replace thermistor if faulty
  • Check heater
  • Check wiring at control module or timer

Door lock fault detected

The door lock on the washing machine has been detected as faulty or failed to engage correctly.

  • Check that the washing machine door has been closed correctly and is engaging the door lock correctly
  • Check wiring to door lock
  • Check door lock
  • Check wiring at control module or timer

F3

Washing machine water intake has failed to reach level

The water level was not detected as reaching the correct level by the pressure sensor.

  • Check water supply is on and that there is sufficient water pressure available
  • Check water intake valve wiring and electrical connections
  • Check pressure sensor wiring and electrical connections
  • Check water inlet valve
  • Check water level or pressure sensor
  • Check connections to the main control module or timer

F4

Inverter cannot control the motor

The inverter card, motor speed and voltage electronic control module cannot control the motor speed. Please note that this code would only be displayed on models that have an brushless motor fitted.

  • Check connections and wiring between the inverter card and the motor
  • Check the motor tacho is complete and in place
  • Check the main control PCB
  • Replace inverter card if no fault found on the motor

F5

Washing machine control card and inverter card cannot communicate

The main control module cannot communicate with the motor speed control board or inverter card.

Ordinarily when this error is reported the fault will lie in the wiring or with the inverter card and not the control module, which is reporting the error correctly.

  • Check wiring loom between the main control card and inverter card
  • Check connector blocks at both cards
  • Replace inverter card

Washing machine water heating element detected faulty

A fault has been detected in the water heating circuit which would ordinarily mean that the wash heater is open circuit.

  • Check wiring and connections to the water heating element
  • Check heating element for continuity
  • Check thermostat or thermistor wiring and connections
  • Check thermostat or thermistor
  • Check connections on main control module

Washing machine failed to drain

The washing machine has failed to drain the water and will stop with water in it.

Drain the washing machine manually before proceeding with any diagnostics.

  • Check pump filter for any obstruction or foreign objects
  • Check drain outlet hose for any blockage or obstruction
  • Check drain pump for continuity
  • Check drain pump rotor is good
  • Check wiring to pump and connections to the drain pump
  • Check connection to the main control module

Washing machine motor fault detected

A fault has been detected with the washing machine’s main motor although no specific indication of the nature is offered.

  • Check all connections to the main drive motor
  • Check motor tacho unit
  • Check motor carbon brushes where used
  • Check motor armature
  • Check connections to the main control module

Leak detected on washing machine models with Aquastop fitted

This fault code is only used on Gorenje washing machine models that have their Aquastop leak detection system fitted and will not show on models that do not have this feature.

  • Check for any leaks and resolve
  • Check Aquastop inlet hose
  • Check connections to Aquastop inlet hose
  • Check connections to float leak detection device if fitted
  • Check connections to main control module

E1: Dishwasher not filling with water

Parts that need checking when this problem occurs are the water supply and the wiring to the water valve. The water valve itself may be defective, and wiring to the pressure switch or sensor will need to be inspected

E2: Gorenje dishwasher not draining

When your dishwasher detects a drainage fault within four minutes the programme will automatically stop. There may be issues with the drain pump itself or the wiring to the drain pump.

E3: Dishwasher times out when heating

Gorenje dishwasher error code E3 indicates that no heat has been detected within an hour and the programme will stop. Checks will need to be carried out on the wiring to the heater and thermostats, as well as the water heating element and thermostats themselves.

E4: Aquastop protection circuit activated

Gorenje dishwasher E4 error shows that the leak detection switch has been on for more than two minutes causing the water inlet valve to shut off and the water to drain. The Aquastop hose will need investigating alongside the float in the base of the dishwasher. You’ll also need to check for leaks.

E6: Short circuit detected on the temperature sensor

When this code displays the water heating sensor wiring and the temperature sensor need to be looked at.

E7: Temperature sensor detected as an open circuit

If the temperature sensor detects an open circuit then the water heating sensor wiring and the temperature sensor itself needs examining. Your Gorenje dishwasher will illuminate a number of lights simultaneously to indicate the malfunction. Depending on your model the letter E or Err will also display:

E1: First light flashing and end light solid

This relates to an Aquastop failure in appliances that have an anti-flood system. This automatically trips when leaks are detected and will need specialist attention.

E2: Second light flashing and end light solid

When the system which limits the water level has been tripped the programme will need to be interrupted and your Gorenje dishwasher reset. Switch off your dishwasher and switch back on again, then re-programme and start the wash cycle again. If the fault persists you’ll need advice from an experienced technician.

E3: First and second light flashing and end light solid

An indication of a water heating malfunction will trigger this response due to the water not heating, or the heating parameters being incorrect.

E4: Third light flashing and end light solid

This is a water temperature monitoring malfunction and may also require resetting of your appliance as detailed in E2. If your dishwasher trips continually you’ll need to call in an expert.

E5: First and third light flashing and end light solid

A water intake malfunction is a result of your appliance not being able to take in water properly. This can be due to the water connections, the water intake valve, or an obstructed filter.

E6: Second and third light flashing and end light solid

When your dishwasher won’t pump out water this indicates that the drain hose is kinked or obstructed. If this isn’t the case the problem could be with an obstructed siphon or filter.

F1 Temperature sensor connection open or short-circuit fault The fault is detected if the connection to the temperature sensor is open or if a short circuit occurs between the two sensor terminals. The washing program will be completed without heating. The fault will be displayed at the end of the washing program.

F2 Door interlock connection open The fault is detected if the door interlock connection is open. The washing program will then be stopped. The fault will be displayed. The power supply of the door lock will be turned on. To turn on the washing program, the user must close the door (with the program activated). To continue the program (if a fault occurs during washing), the user must check if the door is closed, then press the „Start” button. If the fault occurs again, the washing program will stop. The power supply to the door lock will be disabled. If there is water in the machine, it is drained within 2 minutes. The fault will be displayed again, and it will not be possible to start the washing program.

Check:

– UBL

– Electronic module

– Wiring harness. Display: F2.

 

F3 The specified water level is not reached. The fault is detected if during water filling or heating phase, the water level does not reach level 1 during the filling time or 4 minutes of the heating phase. If the fault occurs the first time during the wash, the current program step will start again. If the malfunction occurs a second time (twice in a row), the program will be stopped and a malfunction will be displayed. To continue the program, the user must click on the Start button. If the fault occurs a third time, the washing program will be stopped, the fault will be displayed. You will not be able to start the washing program.

Check:

– Correct installation of drain hose

– Water tap

– Filling valve

– Blockage of nozzles

– Hydrostat

– Electronic module

– Wiring harness. Display: F3.

 

F4 The tacho connection is open or a short circuit has occurred. If the washing program is activated and the motor does not receive a signal from the tachometer, the first time it detects a malfunction for 1 minute. This is repeated 3 times. If during this time it is detected that the motor is operating OK, all previous faults are erased from the memory. If the fault is determined for the fourth time, the wash program will be stopped immediately. If the temperature is higher than 60 ° C, cooling with cold water is performed for 30 seconds. Then – drain the water for 2 minutes. The program stops. A fault is displayed.

Check:

– The engine and its components

– Electronic module

– Wiring harness. Display: F4.

 

F5 Motor short-circuit fault The fault is detected if the washing program is activated and the motor runs without monitoring the tee. The washing program will be stopped immediately. After 2 minutes – the second attempt. If the fault is not detected, the first detected fault is removed from the memory and the operation continues. If the same problem occurs again, the program will be completely stopped. If the temperature exceeds 60 ° C, cooling with cold water is performed for 30 seconds. Then – drain the water for 2 minutes. The program will be stopped. A fault is displayed.

Check:

– Electronic module

– Engine

F6 The set temperature is not reached. The fault is detected if, after the heating phase, the temperature is more than 15 ° C lower than the set temperature. The wash program will be completed. The fault will be displayed at the end of the washing program.

Check:

– A heating element

– Temperature sensor

– Electronic module

– Wiring harness. Display: F6.

 

F7 The water level does not drop below level 1 The fault is detected if, after the drain phase, the water level still does not drop below level 1. If the fault occurred the first time during the wash program, the current step will be executed again. If the fault is detected a second time (twice consecutively), the washing program will be stopped and the fault will be displayed. To continue the washing program, the user must press the „Start” button. If the fault is detected a third time, the washing program will be stopped and the fault will be displayed, and the wash program will not start.

Check:

– Drain pump

– Nozzle of nozzles or drain hose

– Sewer obstruction Display: F8.

 

F8 MCA does not reach the maximum spin speed. The fault is detected if, at the end of the spin cycle of the test program, the spin speed is more than 150 rpm below the set speed. The fault will be displayed after the test program is completed.

Check:

– Belt condition

– Electronic module

– Engine

– Loading status of the tank with the laundry. Display: F8.

 

F9 Leakage: water in the machine. Aqua Stop has been activated The fault will be detected if the special Aqua Stop Sensor sensor signals a leak (the duration of the signal is at least 2 seconds). All valves will be turned off, the heater will also be turned off, and the main motor – stopped. After 3 seconds, a second check is carried out. If a fault is not found, the first fault will be deleted from the memory and the program will continue to run. If the fault is still present, the pump is switched on for 2 minutes and the water drained. A fault is displayed. You will not be able to start the washing program.

Check:

– Micro switch of akvastopa

– Leaks available. Display: F9.

 

F10 The water sensor does not work. The fault is detected if, at the beginning of each water filling program, the sensor does not work, the machine does not start filling with water. If the temperature is higher than 60 ° C, than cool with cold water for 30 seconds. If it accumulates water more than 2 minutes and STOP program. Display: F10.

 

F11 Overflow When overflow, the drain pump is activated. The drain works for 5 minutes, repeat after 2 minutes. The electronic module stops feeding tension to the flood valves, the washing program is reset. Display: F11.
